The St Albans Open is a BMAB-partnered tournament - BMAB is the Backgammon Masters Awarding Body - visit their website for full details.
If you are already registered with BMAB and want your St Albans Open participation to be rated, you must apply to them at least 24 hours (and ideally 48 hours) in advance of the tournament, stipulating which tournament events you wish to be rated (Round Robin, Main, Consolation, etc). Once your application has been BMAB approved, you *must* also notify Chris Purchase which matches you will be recording for BMAB purposes. At the end of the tournament, you will need Chris Purchase or Liviu Ionescu to sign off your recordings as complete.
Mains power in the tournament rooms is limited, so please bring battery-powered equipment if at all possible; table space is also limited, so please keep your playing footprint as small as possible; and, you must bring your own clock - although the tournament is clock-preference, the number available for loan is small.
In the event you encounter an opponent who is reluctant to have their match with you recorded, you should call the TD, who will then offer them anonymity.
At the end of the tournament, it is your responsibility to (a) make your match recordings available for scrutiny (by uploading to YouTube, or by posting memory sticks or mini hard-drives to BMAB Representatives), and (b) to email transcribed match-files emailed to BMAB within two weeks of the completion of the tournament.
